I've only been to Edinburgh once, and ever since our trip a few years ago I have been itching to go back.
I've also been itching to write this blog post, and it's taken me a long time to finally put pen to paper and share some of our favourite discoveries in the city!

A while ago, I asked my followers on Instagram which posts on The Secret Life of Maggie May they enjoyed the most. The most popular answer? Stories about my travels and adventures - and I was so happy to read this, because they're some of my favourite posts to write!
As a child, I adored reading Enid Blyton novels and imagining I was exploring distant lands. At a time when our travel options become more limited, I am finding myself revisiting that youthful phase, with a curiosity and interest in reading about what others are up to all across the world. It is an escape, as reading often is, and to imagine where I might visit in years to come is optimistic and exciting, as opposed to depressing. I will continue to share my tales of recent travels, in the hope that you find the same joy and pleasure as I do, and today's post is one any lover of Cornwall will enjoy.

If you want to visit somewhere guaranteed to tickle every single creative part of your brain, there are a few global big-hitters which come to mind - for example, the Louvre, the British Museum, and since 1959, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum.

This was one of the best trips I've ever been on.
It's not surprising really, since I've been dreaming of visiting New York since I was about 9 years old. I had a list of things I wanted to see and do as long as my arm, and Mr Maggie May very nobly agreed to join me in cramming in as much as we could in 4 days. As a result, this is quite a big post with lots of pictures to peruse, so grab a cup of tea and put your feet up while you have a read!
The last time we went to Snowdonia was back in 2016. Because it was a family trip with kiddies, Snowdon wasn't part of the plan - but I was determined to do it at some point. I even included it in my Life Bucket List.
So when one of my besties posted on Instagram that she was organising a trip to climb it with her bf, I invited myself and Mr MM along. Before we knew it, we'd booked a big farmhouse in the middle of nowhere, with 8 of us piling in for a weekend of walking and wine!

Last month, we were meant to be visiting our lovely friends in Glasgow. Unfortunately our plans had to change fairly last minute... But knowing we will arrange to meet up another time instead, and with a trip to "Dear Green Place" pencilled in for the summer, not too much harm has been done thankfully!
It did get me thinking though about this brilliant city which we last visited a few years ago, and some of my favourite sites, restaurants and cafés I’d love to see again. Yep, you guessed it... I decided to put together another of my city guides!
Back in February, I shared my Travel Bucket List with you all {and I'm super excited that we're now actually going to one of those locations for our honeymoon in October}. I've been meaning to follow that post up for a while now with a more generic bucket list - a life bucket list!

Last year I shared a City Guide to Copenhagen on The Secret Life of Maggie May, and it seemed to go down well with you lot. Why then, I thought to myself, stop with Copenhagen? Why not write guides to several of my favourite cities?
I've got a fair few up my sleeve to share with you, but there was hardly any contest as to which one to feature first: Bristol.
Vibrant, eclectic, loud, and colourful, it's one of England's treasures - a city which is so different to all the others, has a great vibe and is full of things to do. Here are just a few of my recommendations for things to do and places to visit.
Today's post is picture-heavy with lots of colour, so grab a big mug of tea {and a stroopwafel} and get stuck in!
One of the highlights of our trip to Amsterdam last year was definitely visiting Keukenhof.
For those of you who haven't heard of it, Keukenhof is a world-renowned tulip park just outside the Dutch capital. The focus is on spring flowers and bulbs, and its reputation is all the more impressive seeing as it's only open for eight weeks of the year {we're right in the middle of the 2018 show!}

As written in my Instagram bio, I've been bitten by the travel bug.
Even though I'm lucky enough to have explored lots of amazing places already, there are so many more I want to visit!
I've managed to tick quite a few of the European countries off my list, but there are still a couple of cities I want to spend a weekend in. Mr MM and I love city breaks - we've had some brilliant ones in the last few years, including Copenhagen, Amsterdam and Glasgow, and I'm very keen for us to organise some more!

Yet another great thing about living in the Cotswolds is our proximity to the beautiful city of Oxford.
I have very fond memories of Oxford, and my visits have varied widely - from singing in Christ Church Cathedral as a schoolgirl, and spending very fun {very drunken} weekends with my friend in her college; to walking around hand-in-hand with Mr MM as we take in the sights, meeting up with friends of ours who have decided to call this marvellous place home.

The last few weeks have been... A whirlwind!
The end of June saw us escape for a week to our second home; the beautiful Greek island of Corfu. After a busy and stressful few months, with Mr Maggie May tackling a new job, and me battling the Black Dog, we definitely deserved a few days of rest and relaxation.
Museums. They're one of the main features of any city break, right?
Unsurprisingly, Amsterdam is chock-a-block full of them, and having already paid a visit to Anne Frank House during our first day in the city, we were ready to check out the competition on the Saturday.

I have always wanted to go to Amsterdam.
Ever since I was a little girl, and saw pictures of the colourful canal houses lined up higgledy-piggledy at the water's edge.
Luckily for me, Mr MM was desperate to visit too, which meant choosing his birthday present this year was easy!
Call me obsessed, but this city deserves a decent amount of air time! I've already talked about highlights such as Rosenborg Slot, Christiansborg Palace, Torvehallerne Food Market, and the Design Museum Danmark - but believe it or not, there are still a few treasures to add to your must-see list...
Having soaked up several of Copenhagen's most dazzling sights on our first morning in the city, we were still keen to tick another few things off the list.
Sunday afternoon found us journeying to Christiansborg Slot.
Happy New Year! It's hard to believe that another year has passed... I don't mean to sound too maudlin or morose - I'm simply shocked that it's 2017 already!
2016 has been quite a year, with amazing ups - and its fair share of downs too. But as we step into January, I still have my wonderful family and friends, my home, and Mr Maggie May - so it can't have been too bad a year.
Flicking through the photos, messages and cards from the last twelve months is a lovely way of reminding oneself of all that has gone on, and is something I'd definitely recommend doing with your loved ones to fight those January blues. But in the meantime, whilst you wait patiently for the rest of your clan to join you on the sofa, why not be nosy and have a browse at our 2016...

Wonderful, wonderful Copenhagen!
Mr Maggie May and I were lucky enough to find ourselves in the beautiful Danish capital last month: with a few days to spare, and a long-running desire to visit Denmark, we thought it would be the perfect time to travel to this icy, sophisticated city.
With slightly bleary eyes and a strong coffee in hand, we landed around lunchtime and set off for our lodgings for the next few days.
The Andersen Hotel is a darling little boutique hotel in the heart of Vesterbro, the hippest of the hip city districts. With a warm welcome from the moment you step inside, you are guaranteed to have everything you could possibly need from city break accommodation.
Time to discuss that prehistoric village and wee dram I mentioned in my last post!

When Mr Maggie May came to join me during my travels in Orkney, we had just one day on the mainland to squeeze in as much as possible.
Where on earth would we start?
Luckily, the kind folk at Visit Orkney came to our rescue, arranging a day packed full of wonderful things to see and do; if you're planning a trip up to the islands, I would definitely recommend visiting their website for some inspiration!
It was a fairly cold day {by my standards; I think the Orcadians would have described it as pleasant weather for April} so we wrapped up warm and set off for our first location - somewhere I had been dying to go since I first organised my trip.
