Are you ready for the next chapter of my New York adventure?

If you want to visit somewhere guaranteed to tickle every single creative part of your brain, there are a few global big-hitters which come to mind - for example, the Louvre, the British Museum, and since 1959, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum.

Known as the Guggenheim for short, this internationally renowned art space is famous not only for the wonders it holds inside, but also for the amazing building, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright using an "inverted-ziggurat design".

If the inverted whaddya-call-it isn't a phrase familiar to you, then these snaps from inside should help to explain how this modern, architectural masterpiece works.

It's quite mind-boggling, isn't it?

Mr MM and I were over the moon when the Guggenheim kindly gifted us tickets to visit, and couldn't wait to soak up the current Artistic Licence exhibition.

Six artists, all of whom have previously exhibited at the museum, have curated a selection of their favourite pieces from the 60-year collection. The result is vibrant, kooky and clever, and presents a huge variety of artworks to enjoy.

Some pieces really grabbed my attention - those by artists who were familiar to me, such as Picasso, Toulouse-Lautrec and Degas.

Others I hadn't seen before, but I thought they were beautiful.

And some were weird - wonderful, but weird!

We spent a couple of hours slowly wandering up and up and up, ascending the slope without even realising it.

And still, there was more to see.

It's a place where you have to see it to believe it; simply describing it and sharing photos isn't enough. If you're planning a trip to NYC, then this is an excellent addition to the itinerary. It is worth mentioning that the Guggenheim celebrates modern art, so if this is not your thing, then obviously you won't be a fan. But if you're ready to have your eyes opened up to a world of creativity, excitement and colour - time to enter the inverted-ziggurat...

Thank you to the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum for arranging my press visit. You can find the museum at 1071 5th Ave, between 88th and 89th St, New York. More information can be found on their website.
