Are you ready for the next chapter of my New York adventure?

If you want to visit somewhere guaranteed to tickle every single creative part of your brain, there are a few global big-hitters which come to mind - for example, the Louvre, the British Museum, and since 1959, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum.

New York, New York

Central Park, New York - Maggie May

This was one of the best trips I've ever been on.

It's not surprising really, since I've been dreaming of visiting New York since I was about 9 years old. I had a list of things I wanted to see and do as long as my arm, and Mr Maggie May very nobly agreed to join me in cramming in as much as we could in 4 days. As a result, this is quite a big post with lots of pictures to peruse, so grab a cup of tea and put your feet up while you have a read!

Now that we've officially entered autumn {on the 23rd September, don'tcha know} it feels like it's time to share some of my favourite seasonal images with my Pinterest Board of the Month, Autumn. Regulars to Maggie May will already be aware of my love for autumn - it's why we had an October wedding - and all of the colours, flavours and textures which represent this gorgeous time of year.

I absolutely love smoothies.

They're such a great breakfast option - you can blend them up the night before if you've got a busy day ahead, you can throw in whatever fruit and veg you've got available, and you can switch up the flavours depending on your mood.

Gorgeous Instagrammers

I'm a big fan of Instagram.

If you don't have it already, I would thoroughly recommend getting an account. It's such a creative space, full of new ideas, inspiration and art.

Admittedly it has its downsides, such as issues with the 'algorithms' - what this essentially means is that you tend to see a limited number of the accounts you follow when scrolling through your feed. But I don't think we should write off Instagram completely.

August's Pinterest Board of the Month is exciting, colourful and vibrant.

It celebrates creativity, eccentricities, differences, patterns, movements and shapes. It's an amalgamation of illustrations, photographs, sketches, fabrics, prints, portraits and textures, and to pour over the collection of images is a joy.

Our Wedding Cake Recipe

Our Wedding Cake Recipe - Maggie May

It was early on during our wedding planning that Mama Maggie May and I casually suggested having a go at baking mine and Mr MM's wedding cake.

The initial plan was to bake a simple, one-tier fruit cake, to be decorated with flowers - as our friends were baking a selection of goodies for our 'Great Wedding Bake Off', we figured there would be enough cake around.

But before long, the plan changed to a two-tier cake - and then three...

All You Need Is Positivity

Girlfriends - All You Need Is Positivity by Maggie May

Before you ask, no, I didn't see the Spice Girls live on tour and yes, I am upset about it.

Having gone to see Hugh Jackman a couple of weeks ago on his international tour {he was uh-mazing}, and what with tickets booked to see Westlife this month, I couldn't really justify a third music concert... So I'll have to make do with blaring out the Spice Girls Greatest Hits album whilst doing the washing up instead!

Their lyrics however have rung true with me this week {for those of you who aren't au fait with the 90's hit Spice Up Your Life, the words are: "When you're feeling sad and low; we will take you where you gotta go; smiling, dancing, everything is free; all you need is positivity" - hence the post title}.

A few years ago I stumbled across a post on Becky's blog {Milk Bubble Tea}. It was a very simple post, but I really liked it - it was a selection of wallpapers for iPhones.

I know it sounds a bit strange, but if you spend just a few minutes on Pinterest having typed in 'iPhone wallpapers' you will discover that there is a multitude of designs and artworks out there which will give your Home screen - and phone - a new lease of life.

BFFs Bank Holiday

Malmaison Afternoon Tea

There is a beautiful amount of spring bank holidays here in the UK.

As last weekend approached with yet another free Monday in sight, Mr MM and I realised that we didn't have any set plans other than general life admin and house stuff. So when two of my BFFs suggested meeting up over the weekend, my ears pricked up excitedly!

Mr MM and I have been busy bees recently!

It's often the way though, isn't it - you'll have a few weeks go by where life is quiet, you get the chance to catch up on your favourite crime dramas and do some housework, thinking you should probably arrange some stuff to get you busy again when BAM! You're so busy that your Filofax is practically falling apart at the seams {OK, so that's a bit of an exaggeration - but life has felt quite crammed recently}.

Addicted to Crime Dramas

Addicted to Crime Dramas - Maggie May

I’ve been watching so much Gossip Girl recently that I’m having to restrain myself from starting this post off with, “Good morning Upper East Siders...” But it’s fine, I can stop myself. Just.

When I’m not watching gloriously ridiculously shows like the aforementioned Gossip Girl {other favourites in this category include Desperate Housewives, Revenge, 90210 and Once Upon A Time}, I love getting my teeth into a crime drama. Mr MM and I have enjoyed lots over the past few years, so I thought I would share some of the best ones with you.

Weekend in Snowdonia

Maggie May - Weekend in Snowdonia

The last time we went to Snowdonia was back in 2016. Because it was a family trip with kiddies, Snowdon wasn't part of the plan - but I was determined to do it at some point. I even included it in my Life Bucket List.

So when one of my besties posted on Instagram that she was organising a trip to climb it with her bf, I invited myself and Mr MM along. Before we knew it, we'd booked a big farmhouse in the middle of nowhere, with 8 of us piling in for a weekend of walking and wine!

{Note - all of the images in this post are taken from my Quotes to Inspire Pinterest board - if you're in need of some motivational words about self-love, this is a great place to start!}

I've been feeling a bit lethargic and flat for the last couple of weeks, and I'm not entirely sure why.

I've got a few potential theories - maybe it's a flare of my CFS/ME {as weirdly I've had a flare in the spring for the last couple of years}, or worse, the black dog making his way back in to my life. Or maybe it's just the fact that the weather has been hotter recently, or that I've consumed far too many Easter eggs...

Wasn’t the Easter weekend gorgeous?

At risk of sounding repetitive/like I had short term memory loss, I kept on saying to whoever would listen, “it’s like it’s the August bank holiday, not April!” But it was true - as we sat in the sunshine, slapping on sun cream, buying ice creams and swatting away wasps, it definitely felt like mid-summer.

I agree, this post might seem a little silly. But what with all the political rubbish going on at the moment, I wanted to write something more trivial than usual, both for myself and my readers, who I thought might be in need of some light relief!

For a long time now, when in need of style inspiration, there has been a group of women who are always my failsafe: our beloved royals.

Admittedly their wardrobe budgets are a tad higher than mine, they carry out a few more public engagements than I do, and I might attract a few stares if I wear a dress coat next time I go food shopping, but there’s still a lot I can learn from them when it comes to fashion.

Last month, we were meant to be visiting our lovely friends in Glasgow. Unfortunately our plans had to change fairly last minute... But knowing we will arrange to meet up another time instead, and with a trip to "Dear Green Place" pencilled in for the summer, not too much harm has been done thankfully!

It did get me thinking though about this brilliant city which we last visited a few years ago, and some of my favourite sites, restaurants and cafés I’d love to see again. Yep, you guessed it... I decided to put together another of my city guides

It’s here! {Took your time though, didn’t you Spring?}

The feeling of the sun beating down gently onto your face is so welcome at this time of year - although part of me is paranoid about getting sunburnt after 0.3 seconds exposure thanks to my roaccutane...

The amount of blossom and magnolia filling the gardens where we live is just gorgeous, and magnolia has to be one of my favourite scents. Ours hasn’t done as well this year as previously {I think it took a battering in a hail storm a few weeks ago - that’s British weather for you} but that doesn’t mean I can’t admire other people’s! It’s taking all the restraint I have not to snap pictures of every bloom I see...

January Pressure

January Pressure

There’s always a spring in my step at this time of year, despite the streaming nose, chilly morning starts and frosted car windscreens. It’s a new start, a clean page, and literally a breath of fresh air.

And yet, not far behind the shouts of “Happy New Year!” is an assumption - pressure for you to change something about yourself, to make yourself a better person. I’m not taking about the push to join a gym, begin a crash diet or commence Vegan/Dry January. I’m talking about the more subtle expectations we place upon ourselves - less dramatic, but pressure all the same. And I am the most guilty of all.
