Winter Hair and Beauty Fixes

Winter, eh? I love the hot chocolates, the snuggly jumpers, the stylish and comfortable boots and the cosy nights in, but I really hate what it does to my hair and skin. I'm sure I'm not the only one!

My hair is just SO FRIZZY at the moment. The thing is, not only do our lovely locks get damaged and dried out in the freezing cold weather, but also our sudden amping up of the central heating does our hair no good at all. Add all that to the fact that we wear a lot of scarves in the winter months, which if you have fine hair like me wreak absolute havoc, and you can end up with a very sorry looking head of hair.

And that's not all (seriously, men have no idea). What about our skin?! As my Twitter followers may already know, I have had really sore, dry hands for the last few days - and now I've noticed some dry patches of skin appearing on my face too. Finally, don't we all suffer from that age old problem of chapped lips when the weather turns cold?

Fear not. I have not written this blog post just so I can have a whinge, but because I wanted to share with you some of my hair and beauty saviours which are helping me through this exceedingly difficult time. (OK, maybe a tad dramatic)

Drinking chocolate - Hotel Chocolat
Heat protection mist - TONI&GUY
Hand cream - Naturally European
Lip treatment - Avon
Face cream - Simple
Wool beanie hat - Warehouse
Long gloves - Dorothy Perkins

Dry Hands Fix

Naturally European Rose Petal Luxury Hand Cream. £8, available from oliverbonas.com.

Regulars to my blog will remember me raving about this hand cream back in May. It's been brilliant for my dry hands this last few days, and the rose scent of this lotion is just amazing. It's in a handbag friendly tube too, so definitely take it to your desk so you can keep moisturising! I keep mine on my bedside table, so last thing at night I can give my hands a good lathering.

Frizzy Hair Fix

TONI&GUY Prep: Heat Protection Mist Anti Static Control. £6.39, available from TONI&GUY.

My wonderful mum found this mist for me once she knew how much I'd been looking for something to tame my frizz - without breaking the bank! This product is wonderful - simply spray some onto damp hair before blow-drying, and top up throughout drying if needed. You can also spray a small amount onto dry hair if you've come home to find a frizz nightmare. Again, this spray smells sooooo good. I don't even need to wear perfume if I've got this on...

Cracked Lips Fix

Avon Care Intensive Relief Lip Treatment. £2.50, available from Avon (Campaign 5).

Avon have really come up a treat with this new product of theirs (another one to add to my ever-growing pile of Avon make up). I pop a layer of this on every morning and evening, and that's all I need to keep my lips feeling soft and kissable (very important with Valentine's Day just around the corner). Don't be deceived by the small tube; you only need a very small amount each application.

Sore Face Fix

Simple Clear Skin Oil Balancing Moisturiser. £4.27, available from boots.com.

I've always struggled to find a moisturiser which suits my oily skin, and so have tended to just not bother with it (not recommended!) I was therefore a bit dubious when a friend recommended the Simple moisturisers for me. However, having done some research on Google, I decided to give their Oil Balancing moisturiser a go - and I'm so glad I did! I don't know how it works, but this product provides the perfect amount of moisture without feeling either too sloppy or too light. I apply this at night just before bed, and in the morning my cheeks feel so soft! Ideal for targeting those dry patches, and I've found it safe to use around my eyes.

Why not give one or two of these a try? Don't worry everyone, Spring is just around the corner... I hope!
