Winter's coming!
I genuinely cannot believe that this Friday marks the start of December. Can you believe it? This year really has flown by.
I have to admit; I much prefer the colder autumn and winter months to the summer {I know, it's slightly bizarre} But there are so many things I love about this time of year and the changing of the seasons!
One of the best bits has to be the accompanying wardrobes, and the chance to pile on thick coats and woolly jumpers.
^ This old Oasis coat is one of my favourites. Unfortunately it's from a few seasons ago, but I've popped some links below to similar ones! {Plus some lovely winter accessories}
It's difficult to decide what I'm looking forward to most this winter - but here are just a few of the traditions and treats I'm excited about...
Lighting candles and letting the aromas of fig, cinnamon and mulled spices waft around the house
Popping Michael Bublé's Christmas CD on {if Mr Maggie May lets me}
Having an advent calendar chocolate every morning - I've got a Merryteaser one this year and I'm pretty excited
Decorating the house for Christmas while carols play in the background
Snuggling under a thick blanket on the sofa with the fire crackling next to us
Sitting with a glass of red wine and writing Christmas cards
Baking something festive {maybe mince pies}
Going for a walk in the frost, with the wind biting our noses and our cheeks flushed with the cold!
Reading Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. Mr Maggie May and I attempt to read this together every year in the lead up to Christmas, but never quite get to the end by Christmas Day!
Drinking festive beverages - I'm thinking anything mulled {wine, cider}, or my divine salted caramel and clementine hot chocolate from Mr MM
Christmas present shopping
Going to carol concerts and services - we've booked in to see Benjamin Britten's A Ceremony of Carols, as well as the classic Nine Lessons and Carols. I can't wait!
Having a smooch under the mistletoe {!}
Wearing warm hats, scarves and gloves at every available opportunity
Dressing up for festive evenings out during December and in the new year
Digging out the Christmas jumpers and wearing them proudly
And finally, having another wonderful excuse to meet up with as many friends and family as possible.
