Fashion at the Emmys

I love it the day after a big awards ceremony, when all the social media newsfeeds are filled with pictures of the gorgeous dresses from the night before. The Emmys a few days ago were no exception; gone were hours of productivity as I ooh-ed and ahh-ed over the range of designs showcased at the awards' 66th year.

I thought I'd share with you my five favourite dresses from the evening (although it was SO difficult to choose just five)...

1. Hayden Panettiere in Lorena Sarbu

I thought Hayden looked absolutely stunning in this dress. It had the perfect amount of sparkle for the red carpet, and she showed off her baby bump with style. This dress reminded me of Blake Lively's Gucci dress at the Met Gala.... I'm a huge Blake fan anyway, but I thought she looked wonderful in this dress!

Marks out of ten for Hayden: 8/10 (Good on her for making a baby bump look so glamourous!)

2. Sarah Hyland in Christian Siriano

Sarah's outfit was actually the first of this year's Emmys outfits to really catch my eye. The 23 year old decided to go for a skirt and top combo as opposed to the classic dress option, and I think she pulled it off really well. This outfit is very high fashion, and the colour of her skirt is gorgeous. Here's another pic of Sarah with her Modern Family co-stars.

I think she really stands out, for all the right reasons - and she's rocking a top knot too!

Marks out of ten for Sarah: 7.5/10

3. Claire Danes in Givenchy

I love Claire Danes, I love Homeland, and I flippin' love her dress. I always find myself drawn towards red if I'm out dress shopping, but the colour combined with the lace detail and the intricate collar makes the Givenchy gown one of a kind. I think her hair and make up look lovely too.

I had to sneak in this shot... I have a soft spot for Hugh Dancy, who just so happens to be Mr Claire Danes.

Don't they make a dashing couple?

Marks out of ten for Claire: 8.5/10

4. Cat Deeley in Burberry

When I saw this dress, I think I actually gave an audible gasp. Isn't this the kind of dress every girl wishes for? Floaty, romantic, princess-like, with gorgeous hues of pink. Cat looks absolutely beautiful in this, and oh so elegant!

Cat's hair and make up was also spot on. Estetica magazine have actually published an article on their website, in which celebrity stylist for Wella Professionals, Sallie Nicole, talks you through how to create Cat's winning hair style.

Marks out of ten for Cat: 10/10

5. Behati Prinsloo in Prada

OK, OK, so Behati IS a model, so she already has an unfair advantage - she'd look fab on the red carpet in jeans and a hoodie probably. But I do really love her choice of Prada gown. It's classic, but with a modern twist - and the full black skirt with shimmering details reminds me of the night sky...

I frustratingly couldn't find a photo of Behati on her own, as she's just so loved up with her new hubby Adam Levine. So I opted for this cute family album snap of the newlyweds instead.

Ahhhhh.

Marks out of ten for Behati: 7/10

And the best dressed is... Cat Deeley

Well done, lovely lady.

But of course, this is simply my opinion.... What do my blog readers think? Do you agree with my scores? Who do you think won best dressed at this year's Emmys? Let me know in the comments, or tweet me @secretmaggiemay.
